This project was for developing a molecular typing system for human adenoviruses. We identified highly variable gene regions (loop1, loop2 in the hexon gene). Those areas are part of the neutralization properties, in contrary to the fiber gene (hemagglutination properties). Structural Analysis of hexon, fiber and penton were performed in order to enable rational design of adenoviral gene therapy vectors.
